Nissait is a special English school for children from toddlers to high school students.
Founded: December 10, 1973
Nissait Education Philosophy
"to foster the heart of communication"
and "to learn the skill of communication."
At Nissait, we think
the purpose of learning English is communication. By "Communication"
we mean a broader ability, which doesn't refer simply to learning a language,
but rather the ability by which two or more people can overcome differences such
as those relating to nationality, culture or religion, in order to live
peacefully on our planet. Therefore, our
concept of teaching is "to foster the heart of communication" and
"to learn the skill of communication." We hope children will have fun
communicating with others as they expand their views and become global
citizens.
Nissait's Characteristics
● Native English-speaking Teachers’
Conversation Class
Conversation class is taught by native
English speaking teachers, and the lessons are carried out only in
English. We focus on “how to use
English in real life situations” rather than “how to study English.” We also
want students to have fun learning English. We motivate students to use
complete sentences as much as possible. We have small sized classes, therefore
each student has a fair opportunity to speak and can be given individual
attention by the teachers.
Maximum number of students in a class: 6
(Under Elementary school) 8 (Over
Kindergarten)
●Japanese Coordinator System
Japanese coordinators are educational
counselors, and they act as a bridge between the teachers, students and their
parents. They also act as a model for the younger students by demonstrating the
right and wrong way to answer and participate in activities in the class. Shy
students or unconfident students definitely benefit from their help. Japanese
coordinators also give lesson feedback to their parents after every lesson.
●Japanese English Teachers’ General English Class
In order to improve one’s English, reading is
necessary. We have General English classes which are taught by a Japanese
English Teachers. In these classes, the teachers focus on phonics, reading,
writing as well as English Grammar. The class also prepares the students for
the STEP test. By the time students enter Junior High School, they already have
a working knowledge of English grammar and it allows them to be more confident
in their school English classes.
● Extra-
Curricular Activities
We have a variety of programs throughout
the year. The purpose of this is for the students to experience Western
culture. We want them to be able to use English, not only in a classroom
setting, but also in real life situations. We also use these events as a way to
show the parents their children’s progress. Every year the students participate
in Easter class, Halloween parties, day trips, summer camp, summer school, an
overseas home-stay program, and Christmas presentations. Students are able to
have fun learning English through these events as well as in their regular
lessons.
● Long History
Nissait
was established in 1973. Nissait is the ideal school in which children can have fun
learning English and are able to use English as a means of communication. We have experienced many trials and errors since then but
these have assisted us in creating our unique educational system. Great care
and effort has been put into designing a curriculum that has made Nissait the
school that it is today. We are always searching for new ideas and ways in
which to enhance our curriculum and make the school better for the students.
